Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a multirole jet fighter aircraft developed by General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin for the United States Air Force. Designed as a lightweight fighter, it evolved into a successful multirole aircraft. The Falcon's versatility is a paramount reason it was a success on the export market, serving 24 countries. The F-16 is the largest Western fighter program with over 4,000 aircraft built since production started in 1976. Though no longer produced for the US Air Force, it is still produced for export.

The Fighting Falcon is a superb dogfighter with innovations including a frameless, bubble canopy for better visibility, side-mounted control stick to ease control while under high g-forces, and reclined seat to reduce the effect of g-forces on the pilot. It was also the first fighter aircraft to be deliberately built to sustain 9g turns. It is also one of the few jets with a thrust-to-weight ratio greater than one, giving the Falcon excellent acceleration.

Although the F-16's official name is "Fighting Falcon", it is known to its pilots as the "Viper", after the Battlestar Galactica starfighter.

ATLANTIC CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KACY)

Atlantic City International Airport (KACY) is a public airport located nine miles northwest of the central business district of Atlantic City, in Atlantic County, New Jersey. Situated in Egg Harbor Township near the Atlantic City Expressway, the airport is accessible via Exit 9 on the Expressway. The facility is owned and operated by the South Jersey Transportation Authority and serves as a base for the New Jersey Air National Guard and the United States Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City. The airport is adjacent to the William J. Hughes Technical Center, a major research and testing hub for the Federal Aviation Administration, and a training center for the Federal Air Marshal Service.

The airport is currently served by two commercial airlines, Spirit Airlines and Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines, none of which currently serve any international destinations nonstop, but offer extensive coverage nationally and internationally with as little as one stop.

Due to the airport's current growth, more airlines could begin service quite soon, especially from low-fare carriers like "AirTran Airways", "Allegiant Air", or" Southwest Airlines". The South Jersey Transportation Authority has outlined plans for massive terminal expansions (on top of current initiatives) which might be necessary if more air carriers wish to serve the airport. Total passenger traffic at the airport in 2004 was 1,050,172, the second consecutive year that volume topped one million.
